How to purchase a discounted webassign access code for $77

If you purchased a webassign access code in math 190, that access code will remain valid in math 195. Do not purchase a new access code. Use your old math 190 code instead.

If you have not already purchased an access code, you can purchase one for $77 by scrolling to the bottom of this link. Be careful! There are two options on this page. Do not purchase Cengage Unlimited unless you want to spend more money. All you need for this course is to buy is the access code for $77 at the bottom of the page. The access code remains good even if you need to take math 195 multiple times. All you need is to purchase one access code.

If you are taking other courses outside the math dept. that also use webassign, then Cengage Unlimited may save you money? You should then compute what is the best value for your semester.

Grading Factors:

  1. webassign hw (4%)
  2. weekly quizzes (23%)
  3. Three one-hour in-class exams (33%)
  4. final exam (40%).

If you perform better on the final exam than on you weekly quizzes then then you may use your final exam score to count 60% and your weekly quiz average to count 3% toward your final course grade. There will be no other grade replacements. If your quiz average is better than your final exam grade, you will be required to use the original four grading factors above. Your three one-hour in-class exams will count for 33% of your grade in any case.

Weekly Quizzes

There will be weekly quizzes of 2 questions each worth 10 points. The questions will picked to closely resemble the webassign hw problems. There are no make-up quizzes. Instead at the end of the semester your lowest quiz grade will be dropped. There will be a quiz each except for weeks when in-class exams are scheduled and the final week of the semester.

Your final webassign grade will be computed out of four points. The points will be decided as:

  1. All 4 points if your average is between 75---100.
  2. 3 points if your final webassign average is between 57--74
  3. 2 points if your final webassign average is between 38---56.
  4. 1 point if your final webassign average is between 18---37.

Three In-Class Exams:

Each in-class exam will be 9 questions of 10 points each. The in-class exam questions wil similar to the webassign hw problems. When averaging your three in-class exams the following in-class exam weighting factors will be used.

  1. best exam score (44%)
  2. second best exam score (44%).
  3. worst exam score (12%)

The three in-class exams will be scheduled during the following weeks.

  1. Week of Monday 2 March.
  2. Week of Monday 30 March.
  3. Week of Monday 4 May.

Please do not miss one. There are no make-up in-class exams.

Final Exam

The final exam will contain 25 questions of 4 points each. The final exam questions will be similar to the webassign assigned hw questions.
