Abstract
In voting theory, simple questions can lead to complex and sometimes paradoxical results. Recently, we have been able to use tools from modern algebra to address long-standing arguments over voting and tallying methods that date back to the days of Jean-Charles de Borda and Nicolas de Condorcet. In this talk, we will explore how to frame voting methodology in terms of combinatorics and representations of finite groups.
