Abstract

Given an automorphic L-function on GL(n), one of the important problems in analytic number theory is to bound the L-function on the critical line. In general, only the convexity bound from the Phragmen-Lindelof principle is known. Any power saving of the convexity bound is called a subconvexity bound. In the first part of the talk, we will give the first subconvexity bound for a self-dual L-function on GL(3); in the second part of the talk, we will announce a new spectral mean value theorem for automorphic forms on GL(3).
