Weekly Tutoring Engagement and Study Support
Your Tutoring Requirement
You are required to complete 12 separate tutoring weeks during the Fall 2026 tutoring window.
To earn a weekly tutoring credit, you must attend tutoring for at least 1 hour during that tutoring week.
- Tutoring begins: September 7, 2026
- Tutoring ends: December 21, 2026
- Required tutoring weeks: 12
- Total available tutoring weeks: 16
You must earn credit during 12 different tutoring weeks. A single tutoring week can count only once toward the 12-week requirement, even if you attend tutoring multiple times during that week.
Important: Extra tutoring hours completed during one week cannot be used to replace tutoring during another week.
How You Should Use Your Tutoring Time
Tutoring should be used as an active study session. Appropriate uses of tutoring include:
- practicing current MATH 205 course topics;
- working on MyOpenMath problems;
- reviewing class problems or additional practice problems;
- correcting quiz or exam mistakes;
- preparing for an upcoming quiz or exam; and
- asking specific questions about material you do not yet understand.
Required Exam Review
If you score below 70% on an exam, you are required to use your next tutoring session to review that exam.
During that session, you should:
- review the problems you missed;
- identify the mathematical or conceptual errors you made;
- correct those mistakes; and
- strengthen the skills needed for future quizzes and exams.
How a Tutoring Week Works
Except for the first and last partial weeks, each tutoring week runs from Sunday through Saturday.
The tutoring requirement resets every Sunday. Tutoring completed during one week does not carry over into the next tutoring week.
To receive full credit for a tutoring week, you must complete both of the following during the same tutoring week:
- Tutoring Attendance: Complete at least 1 hour of tutoring and make sure that you sign in so your attendance can be verified.
- Tutoring Ticket: Complete and submit one tutoring ticket by the end of that tutoring week.
You only need to submit one tutoring ticket per week.
If you attend tutoring more than once during the same week, you should not submit a separate tutoring ticket for every visit. One complete tutoring ticket is enough for that week.
Tutoring Ticket Requirement
The tutoring ticket is a short reflection about how you used your tutoring session.
The purpose of the ticket is to make sure tutoring is an active part of your study process, rather than simply an attendance requirement.
Your weekly tutoring ticket should clearly identify:
- the topic or skill you worked on;
- the specific MyOpenMath assignment, quiz, exam, review, class problem, or other course problem you discussed;
- at least one mistake, misunderstanding, or difficulty you identified;
- one idea or skill that you understand better after tutoring; and
- what you plan to practice next.
Be Specific
Your responses should contain enough detail to show what you actually worked on.
For example:
Too vague:
I worked on derivatives and it helped.
Better:
I worked on using the Product Rule to differentiate functions containing two factors. I was incorrectly applying the Power Rule to the entire expression. After reviewing several examples, I now understand when I need to use the Product Rule and how to identify the two functions before differentiating.
Tutoring Ticket Deadline and Credit
The tutoring ticket must be completed by the end of the same tutoring week in which you attended tutoring.
Keep the following rules in mind:
- You may complete the ticket after your tutoring session, but it must still be submitted before that tutoring week ends.
- Do not wait until a later tutoring week to complete your ticket.
- If you attend tutoring but do not submit the tutoring ticket by the end of that week, your attendance will still be recorded, but you will receive credit only for the attendance portion of that week's tutoring requirement.
- A late tutoring ticket does not convert a completed tutoring week into a full-credit tutoring week after the week has ended.
- A tutoring ticket submitted without verified tutoring attendance does not satisfy the full weekly tutoring requirement.
Tutoring Options
You may complete your tutoring requirement using any of the approved tutoring options below.
Artino Mathematics Tutoring Center (AMTC)

The AMTC offers:
- one-on-one tutoring appointments;
- topic-based workshops;
- study hall; and
- additional mathematics support.

Marshak Physics/Math Tutoring Center

Walk-in mathematics tutoring is available.
PAL Center
Location: NAC 4/224
The PAL Center provides tutoring services for SEEK students only.
Important: Always sign in when attending tutoring. Tutoring-center sign-in records are used to verify the attendance portion of your weekly tutoring requirement.
Weekly Tutoring Calendar
The dates below define the tutoring weeks for MATH 205.
The tutoring week normally resets every Sunday, except:
- the first tutoring week begins on Monday, September 7, and
- the final tutoring week ends on Monday, December 21.
Weeks affected by the College academic calendar are noted below so that you can plan your tutoring in advance.

Remember: You Need 12 Different Tutoring Weeks
You must complete 12 weekly tutoring sessions during 12 different tutoring weeks.
Completing additional hours during one week is encouraged, but those extra hours do not replace the requirement to participate during a different tutoring week.
For example, attending tutoring for three hours during Week 4 still counts as one completed tutoring week, not three.
Plan your tutoring throughout the semester rather than waiting until the final weeks of the course.
