New faculty member Prof. Alina Vdovina arrives

The math department is pleased to welcome Prof. Alina Vdovina, who comes to CCNY as Professor of Mathematics starting in Fall 2022. Her research lies in the geometric and analytic properties of groups, and spans a broad range of areas.
Her 1996 doctoral degree is from Moscow State University and she has been Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Newcastle University, and held research positions at the University of Bonn and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Germany, as well as the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon and the Institute Fourier in Grenoble, France.
The department looks forward to Prof. Vdovina serving as the Chair for the Department of Mathematics.
