¡Conóceme! 💫
Happy Fall Semester! I’m looking forward to a semester rich in mentorship, research, teaching, and new collaborations. I’m especially excited to mentor Michelle through the PhD application process in mathematics as part of the Math Alliance. I will also serve as an organizer and present my work at the SIAM Conference on Mathematics of Data Science (MDS26) as part of the minisymposium Topological Data Analysis (TDA) Methods in Machine Learning (ML). The minisymposium will explore recent advances at the interface of TDA and machine learning, including the use of persistent homology, Mapper, and related topological summaries in supervised and unsupervised learning. It will also address theoretical, statistical, and computational questions arising from the integration of topology into modern data-driven pipelines, with topics spanning topological feature extraction, interpretability, stability, topological regularization, and applications to complex, high-dimensional scientific datasets. Our goal is to highlight the growing role of topology in machine learning and bring together researchers working on both foundational methods and impactful applications. In December, I will also visit Washington, D.C., as part of my work with the SIAM Science Policy Committee. I am particularly excited about teaching this semester: Applied Linear Algebra, Elements of Linear Algebra, and Machine Learning. If you are joining me in one of these courses, I look forward to having you as a student and to learning together throughout the semester.
